The Gardens of Menton; verdant jewels of the French Riviera

Famed as a town of gardens, sub-tropical Menton is like an open-air greenhouse. We invite you to explore these gorgeous green spaces during your stay at the Villa Genesis, a luxury hotel facing the sea. To make the most of the experience, we recommend booking a tour guide.

The Jardin Serre de la Madone

Located just 5 minutes away by car, this garden is famed for its superb design and rare plantings. Its majestic trees include a tropical Himalayan oak, two immense Podocarpus in thick shade, two California fan palms, a great Yunnan magnolia and more.
Open Tuesday to Sunday, free visiting from 10:00 to 17:00 and guided tour at 15:00.

The Jardin du Val Rameh

Located just 8 minutes away by car, this stunning garden mixes topaz, ruby and lapis lazuli with the green of malachite and jade. Amidst strange plants from distant lands, you’re sure to succumb to the magic of the place and the charm of the transplanted tropics.
Free visiting Wednesday to Monday from 09:30 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:00. Guided tours every Monday at 15:00.

The Jardin d’Agrumes du Palais Carnolès

In this former summer residence of the Princes of Monaco, less than 300 metres from the Villa Genesis, you’ll find a collection of sculptures and 137 different citrus varieties from around the world.

The Jardin Maria Serena

Among the other gardens to add to your list, the Jardin Maria Serena is often regarded as the most delightful in France. More than a garden, it’s a palm grove that offers a unique view of the old town of Menton.
Guided tour every Tuesday at 10:00 and every Friday at 14:30.

The Jardin Fontana Rossa

This garden was the work of the Spanish writer Vincente Blasco-Ibanez. Here, in the 1920s, he recreated a corner of his native Valencia with colourful ceramics, fountains, benches, pergolas and ponds.
Guided tour every Monday at 10:00.

The Jardin des Colombières

This haven of peace is inspired by Mediterranean culture and dotted with ponds and statues.
Visiting on Friday by reservation.

La Citronneraie

This magnificent tropical pleasure garden is located on the side of the Annonciade hill. Lemon, olive, banana and dragon trees, cacti and mimosas are among the many plants that thrive there.
